Enlarging on the Patka

Here the patka is folded in half as is one of the traditional ways of wearing them in 16thC India. With this in mind I've positioned the wheel motif towards the centre where the fold is and caused a slightly wider edge on the side where the hemming will be. Once the white areas are completed as per the sampler shown in previous posts, I'll be adjusting the design and including black centres to the spokes.

Am considering adding a black motif into the ivory silk strip at the top. Possibly something more sinuous than the geometrics.

This sash will be worn with either a plain black lawn dhoti, plain white or perhaps a more accurate interpretation for period, where indigo washes over white for a black pattern are applied.
