Result of wax & paint

While there were some fun aspects to the wax and paint experiment I cannot say it was huge success.

Some of the unexpected effects were interesting and could possibly be applied to other creative areas where I might need that precise effect. For costumes? Not a chance!

Following period instructions for removing the wax from the fabric was a nightmare and only partially achieved. The tussah has so much wax in the fibres it'll never yield it up. Surprisingly the unprepared duppion worked best in a stark and bold way. (The wax bled into the fibres of the textile, as you can see by the darker colour around the colour-free details shown here.)

Next round will be using silk gutta and paints.
