Culling a couple of Lawn snippets (an exceptionally fine cotton fabric, made from higher quality spun cotton fibre and possessing a greater thread count per square inch than muslin) I did a few quick and dirty experiments.
Interestingly enough, the results were entirely different to those working with my silk scraps.
Definitely the scope leaps into many more options here. The most noticeable feature of the experiments was how much softer the fabric felt even with the paint still on the surface, prior to being washed out. Layers worked well. Yes I introduced a second colour and found the results potentially viable. The gilt paint does tend to be temperamental and separate after being shaken. As an outer edging it leaves a halo. Applied within an painted area it's good.
The challenge will be to find a quick means of production.
