Yesterday I plotted out the layout of the motifs across the fabric field in terms of measurements and positioning. Reflected on the colour substitutions, so the overall design would work on the yellow dyed lawn.
Addressed a few of minor points such as the scale of the separating dots against the angular motifs and the smaller detail spots that surround the separating dots. Decided what gets hand painted and at what stage in my production sequence. Checked on the staying power of the fabric paint along a raw edge and whether this would curtail the natural tendency of fabric to fray. Then roughed out the layout (pictured here) accurately enough over two rows to use as a reference guide as I work with the template/grid of oiled card. Doodled and researched several border options per history before bed.
Scanned the sketch and fabric sample with selected design this morning. Tonight I measure and cut out the template/grids and production starts in the morning.
