Pebeo Silk Paints

Having sourced Pebeo silk paint and gutta, courtesy of the Divine Ms. Nikki I did a "quick" test run of the products yesterday since instructions on the gutta seem to be non existing.

I used the card stencils to outline the shapes with the gutta -- each tube has a fine nozzle and is dandy for doing this. The gutta emerged nicely and smoothly. Getting it to penetrate the fibres of the silk takes some effort and seeing it when it eventually dries on the fabric isn't easy. (This stuff does take some time to dry too, I ended up using the radiators as a way of speeding up the dry time after an hour's patient waiting.)

These samples need to go through the wash after I've set the colour with the steam iron before I can make any serious notes and decisions on the exercise. But I can hope.
